Customer data is fragmented when the records describing a single customer live in multiple systems with different IDs, different schemas, and no automated reconciliation. The default state at almost every B2B SaaS company is fragmented. The exception is the rare company that runs everything inside one platform (full Salesforce stack, full HubSpot stack), and even those usually have product usage and billing data outside the platform.
Isn't this what a CDP solves?
Customer data platforms like Segment and Tealium were built for analytics and marketing activation. They unify event streams for downstream tools (analytics, campaigns, audiences).
